Snow Bar

One of the lightest snow anchors ever

DESCRIPTION

We have spent many hours in the field working on the research and design for our snow picket, the Snow Bar, which is named after what the Sherpa call this piece of hardware.

The Snow Bar is made of aircraft-grade aluminum for maximum strength with minimum weight and meets all UIAA requirements for size and strength.

Multiple attachment points allow the Snow Bar to be used as a deadman “T” anchor or placed vertically.

When placed vertically, the attachment points are large enough to accommodate a regular sized carabiner, perfect for those climbers using lightweight alpine draws. When placed as a deadman "T" anchor, the center hole can accommodate a large pear-shaped locking carabiner as well as allowing easier attachment of webbing slings whilst wearing gloves.

These pickets are easy to carry as they are shorter than the traditional picket length at 53cm (21 inches), have a designated durable plastic-coated galvanized steel clipping in loop which allows multiple pickets to stack on one's harness, plus a reinforced zinc coated steel hammer strike end to avoid deformation and prolong the lifespan of the picket.

The Snow Bar is left in a natural aluminum finish to aid snow to adhere to the picket as well as keeping the weight to a minimum. The clipping in loop at the head of the picket is a translucent orange to allow easy identification in the snow.

The Snow Bar weighs only 270 grams.

For those climbers looking for further weight reductions, the plastic-coated galvanized clipping in loop can easily be removed bringing the weight down to 240 grams.

Made in Kathmandu, Nepal from imported materials.
